Australians Remembered is a lasting tribute to the courage, sacrifice and commitment of the men and women who have defended our nation and upheld the values of courage, mateship and service that define us as Australians. 

As a young Commonwealth emerging from Federation, Australia’s military story began with our involvement in the Boer Wars and continued through the defining moments of the Gallipoli campaign that helped forge our ANZAC spirit, the global conflicts of the World Wars, and the peacekeeping operations and deployments that have followed. This commemorative publication honours the people, places and events that have shaped our country’s military history, while preserving the enduring legacy of those who answered the call to serve. 

Australians Remembered combines detailed historical research with Hema’s renowned custom cartography to create a meaningful record of Australia’s military journey from Federation through to 2026. 

The Third Edition has been comprehensively updated and expanded, building upon the previous edition published in 2005, held within the archives of the Australian War Memorial. Roll of Honour Booklet 

Included is an extensively updated Roll of Honour booklet recognising more than 103,135 Australians who gave their lives in service to our country. 

The Roll of Honour information has been compiled from the Roll of Honour authorised by the Australian War Memorial. Eligibility for inclusion is determined solely by the Memorial Council of the Australian War Memorial, ensuring this publication reflects Australia’s official commemorative record. 

The booklet also includes the moving commemorative works “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae and the “Ode of Remembrance” from “For the Fallen” by Laurence Binyon, presented with respect and recognition of the sacrifice of generations of Australian service personnel.
